Before you start

A square photo of 600 × 600 pixels is what several official photo forms ask for. On SafeResize it is the size for the US visa (DS-160) photo, which allows 600 × 600 up to 1200 × 1200, and for the Diversity Visa photo, which must be exactly 600 × 600. The India OCI photo must be square, between 200 × 200 and 900 × 900 pixels, so 600 × 600 fits too.

How do I resize a photo to 600x600 without stretching it?

Choose "Fill the frame" to crop the photo to a square, or "Show all of it" to keep the whole photo with white edges. Either way, faces keep their natural shape.

Is 600 × 600 pixels the same as 2 × 2 inches?

At 300 DPI, yes: 2 inches times 300 is 600 pixels. Websites check pixels, and inches only matter for printing. To save the print size in the file, use the 2 × 2 inch page.

Is this enough for the US visa photo?

The US visa (DS-160) photo also needs a plain white or off-white background, a head that fills 50% to 69% of the height, and a JPEG file of up to 240 KB. The US visa page checks all of that.
