Use SafeResize in AI assistants

SafeResize works inside AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor, through MCP (Model Context Protocol), the standard way for an assistant to use outside tools. There are two versions:

Hosted version: add one address

The address is:

• Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop): open Settings, then Connectors, choose "Add custom connector", name it SafeResize and paste the address.
• Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http saferesize https://saferesize.com/mcp
• Codex: add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:

• ChatGPT: turn on developer mode in ChatGPT's settings (Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise accounts), then create a new app or connector with the address above. OpenAI explains the steps in Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT.
• Cursor: add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

Then ask things like "What size is a Schengen visa photo?" or "The form says JPG, 10 to 20 KB, 140 x 60 pixels. What does that mean?"

Installed version: fix files on your computer

The installed version adds four tools that open files on your own computer: check_file, compress_image, resize_image and compress_pdf. Ask "Make C:\Users\me\Pictures\photo.jpg smaller than 50 KB" or "Get this PDF under 200 KB", and the new file is saved next to the original, with the size in its name. The original is never changed.

You need Node.js 20 or newer, and a SafeResize key (free during the beta, see below). Replace YOUR_KEY with your key.

The first start downloads the image and PDF parts the tools need (about 140 MB once installed), which can take a minute. Some assistants give up on a server that takes that long, so run this once in a terminal first. It prints the version number when everything is ready:

Get a key

During the beta, keys are free. Email anujagrawalbusiness@gmail.com with the subject "SafeResize MCP key" and we will send you one. A beta key works for 90 days. The questions about photo rules never need a key.

Privacy

• Hosted version: your assistant sends SafeResize only the words of its question, such as a country name or a website's rules. No files, and nothing is stored.
• Installed version: files are opened, changed and saved on your own computer. They are never uploaded. Your key is checked on your computer too, without contacting us. The one thing it asks saferesize.com, when it starts, is the number of the current version, so it can update itself. That request carries nothing about you or your files.
