Reel maker: join clips, add your logo and music

Free reel maker for shops: join your clips into a tall 9:16 video for Instagram, WhatsApp Status or Shorts, with your logo, an offer and music. No upload.

What this tool does

Make a reel for your shop from your own video clips: one tall 9:16 MP4 for Instagram Reels, Facebook, WhatsApp Status and YouTube Shorts. Record the clips with your phone, or choose videos you already have. Trim each one, play it slower or faster, and join them with a smooth fade. Your logo, shop name and phone number go on top in a neat card, with an offer line such as "Diwali Sale: 50% off", and your own frame if you have one. Add your music, and set its volume and the volume of the clips' own sound. The reel is made on your own device, so your videos are never uploaded.

How it works

  1. Record your clips with the phone, or choose videos you already have, up to 20.
  2. Trim each clip with its two handles and pick its speed. Add your logo, shop name and phone number, an offer line and music if you like.
  3. Press Make my reel and watch it. Then download it, or share it to WhatsApp or Instagram.

Questions and answers

Is it free? Is there a watermark?

It is free, with no sign-up and no SafeResize watermark: only your own brand is on the reel. That matters, because Facebook says reels with watermarks from other apps reach fewer people.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Your clips are read, and the reel is made, inside your browser on this device, with its own video tools. Nothing is sent to SafeResize or anyone else. Your logo, shop details and frame are kept in this browser on this device for next time, until you press Change, then Delete my brand.

What size and type of file is the reel?

An MP4 file, 1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16, tall like a phone held upright) at 30 frames a second, with H.264 video and AAC sound: the kind of file Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube take. A device that cannot make 1080 × 1920 makes it 720 × 1280 instead.

How long can my reel be?

Up to 3 minutes. Instagram shows reels of up to 3 minutes to new viewers (longer ones only to your followers), YouTube Shorts can be up to 3 minutes, and WhatsApp Status takes up to 90 seconds of a video. Facebook takes reels of any length. The tool shows the length of your reel as you trim.

Will Instagram cover my logo or my offer?

Usually not, if you leave them where the tool puts them. Your shop card goes at the top or the bottom, and the offer line at the top, middle or bottom, always inside the area that Meta asks advertisers to keep for text and logos in Reels: away from the top 14%, the bottom 35% and 6% at each side, where the app shows its buttons, names and captions. Your own frame is drawn just as you designed it.

Can I use a film song or a hit song?

Only if you have the right to use it. Meta's music guidelines say that a video with music you have no licence for can be blocked or muted, and Instagram says some business accounts cannot use its music library. Meta's free Sound Collection has songs and sounds that businesses may use on Facebook and Instagram. Or leave the music out here and add a song in the app, if your account can.

Can I keep my voice and add music?

Yes. The clips' own sound and your music each have a volume. When you add music, the clips' sound goes down to 30% so the music can be heard: turn it up if you talk in your clips. The song can start from any point, it fades out at the end, and it starts again if the reel is longer than the song.

Why is the sound of a slow or fast clip gone?

Voices sound wrong at half speed or twice as fast, so a clip at another speed loses its own sound. Your music still plays over it.

What do Fill the screen and Show all of it mean?

Fill the screen fills the whole tall picture, so the sides of a sideways video are cut off. Show all of it keeps the whole video in the middle, with a blurred copy of it above and below, so nothing is cut. A clip filmed with the phone upright fills the screen without losing anything.

How do I make a frame for my reel?

In Canva or any design app, start a design 1080 × 1920 pixels (the size of an Instagram story). Put your logo, address and offers near the edges and leave the middle empty. Download it as a PNG with "Transparent background" ticked (in Canva that is a Canva Pro option; with free Canva, leave the middle plain white and press "Make the white middle see-through" here), and add it under Frame. A tall frame you keep in Brand your photos can be used with one tap.

How long does it take to make?

On a recent computer, usually less time than the reel lasts; on a phone it can take longer, and long 4K clips take longest. The screen shows how much is left, and Stop ends it. Keep the page open while the reel is made.

Which phones and browsers does it work on?

Current versions of Chrome and Edge on phones and computers, Firefox on computers, and Safari on an iPhone or iPad with iOS 16.4 or newer. Some phones record in HEVC, which a few browsers cannot open: the tool then says so, and recording again with the camera set to "Most compatible" helps. A browser that cannot make videos at all says so before you start.
