Compress a photo to 150 KB

Make a photo smaller than 150 KB for a form or an email and keep it clear. See the size and pixels before you download. Free, no sign-up, and no upload.

Before you start

150 KB leaves room for a clear, natural-looking photo. Still, a phone photo of 2 to 5 MB has to lose over 90% of its size to fit.

The tool below opens with 150 KB typed in the size box. Add your photo and press "Make it smaller". SafeResize keeps the JPG quality as high as it can under the limit, and the result page shows the size, the pixels and the quality it used.

Tips

When 150 KB is the minimum

Some rules set 150 KB as the smallest file allowed. On SafeResize, the Israel eVisa-B2 / visitor visa photo must be 150 KB to 2 MB, so a photo squeezed under 150 KB would be refused there.

For a rule like that, do the opposite of compressing. Change the number in the size box to the maximum, such as 2048 for 2 MB, then open "More options" and type 150 in "Must be at least". If the photo is still under 150 KB, SafeResize adds a hidden note to the file to reach it, and the picture does not change. The Israel visa page does all of this for you and also makes the photo square.

Questions and answers

Is 150 KB the same as 0.15 MB?

About. It is 150,000 bytes if a website counts 1,000 bytes to a KB, and 153,600 bytes if it counts 1,024. SafeResize keeps the file under 150,000 bytes, so both counts accept it.

Will the photo be cropped?

No. Make a photo smaller keeps the whole picture. It may make it smaller in pixels to keep the quality up, and the result page says when it did.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It is made smaller inside your browser and never leaves your phone or computer.
