A transparent background has no colour at all, so whatever is behind the picture shows through: a slide, a web page, a T-shirt design or another photo. This page opens the background remover. An AI model on your device finds the person or thing to keep, and everything else becomes see-through.
You get a PNG, because PNG can hold see-through parts and JPG cannot. It is the size of your photo, up to 12 megapixels (for example 4000 × 3000 pixels), and a bigger photo is made smaller to that size. It is free, with no watermark and no sign-up, and your picture is never uploaded.
The see-through part only survives in a file type that can store it. When you save, send or convert the PNG later, this is what happens to it:
That pattern is how this page, and most apps, show the see-through part. It is not in the file. Press White or Black to look at the edges against a plain colour. That is only for looking: your PNG stays see-through.
Not with this tool: it only saves a PNG with a see-through background. For a colour, put the PNG on a slide or a page of that colour, or add a background in a photo or design app. For an official passport or visa photo, use the passport photo maker, which applies each country's rules.
A JPG photo is squeezed in a way that throws away detail you hardly see. A PNG keeps every pixel exactly, and also stores how see-through each pixel is, so it is often bigger in KB than the JPG you started with. The Download button shows the size before you save.
Yes. It works best when the logo stands out clearly from its background, such as dark letters on a plain light background. Check thin lines and the spaces inside letters afterwards.
